BURNING ISSUE
Open Letter to Kiplagat's (Kalenjin hater's)
Dear Kalenjin hater's - masquarading as the Civil Society... I will avoid using names as much as possible.
I have to introduce myself as a Kalenjin.
I know you may not agree with me but the perception amongst many Kenyans and especially Kalenjins is that some people have a born to pick with the Kalenjin people.
Lets face it. Your crusade is nothing but pure tribalism against the Kalenjins. If you are truly for TJRC, then you should not appear to be a tribalist. Otherwise, there will be no need for Kalenjins to be part of the TJRC. If people really hate us, then we have nothing to loose.
I am aware other foreign people like Tutu don't see the clear picture. The problem with South Africa was colour. Salomon Lerner Febres of Peru has nothing to tell Kenyans - theirs was not a tribal crisis but just an idealogical difference between leftists and rightists. Bishop Joseph Christian Humper has nothing to tell Kenyans either. Sierra Leone's case was a case of greed in Diamonds.
I feel so much pain when I read newspapers about the events in Kenya. I want to get over it and move on. I want to be forgiving and forget the past after the 2007 disastrous elections and what followed. But I cannot move on if I have the feeling that I am hated... that my tribe is black-listed. For God's sake, where do they want the Kalenjins to go? I am talking about the people who act as civil society in Kenya. Why do you have so much hatred?
You might think you are just dealing with Kiplagat. But what you are sowing is even more dangerous. If someone feels they are pushed to the corner, there are several ways they can act. That is not a threat but a reality. I cannot help but think the whole world is against the Kalenjin people - Tutu, Febres and Humper. What should Kalenjins do?
I am asking the people that are really doing this that they are not just hurting the target... they are hurting the whole community. There is no point to have a TJRC if some people just want to carry out some vendetta against a community.
I will be writing comprehensively about hatred shortly. It is something that all humans should endeavour to avoid.
